The story telling workshops started very successfully this week with a session at Pendle Vale College and at Primet High. Feeling Good Theatre and Beth Barlow began to get the young people thinking about their own ambition and aspiration through a series of story's. The workshop used 4 stories’ to explore where real people have overcome barriers, seized the moment and taken opportunities and that we all have very different skills and have multiple intelligence's. The activities encouraged the young people to give careers advice to Si & Jo, who turned out to be Simon Cowel and J K Rowling, at a point in their lives where they were at rock bottom wanting to give it up. The young people explored their intelligences and that you can have very different skills all as valuable as others. The groups also began to look at their dream job and there was a great ‘light bulb’ moment for a young person who didn’t realise science was important to help them achieve their dream job in animal rescue and welfare. Here’s what the guidance teacher at Pendle Vale College felt,
'I found the Prezi.com Inspiring Communities project this afternoon was relevant and engaging for the group of Pendle Vale pupils who took part. The sessions were extremely well planned and delivered with small tasks throughout which really encouraged pupils to reflect more deeply about their own aspirations, their potential perceived barriers and explore positive ways of thinking. Well done, an enjoyable session!'
