Well done everyone who came to our animation session at Colne Library and a big thank you to Dan and Alice for putting on the session and showing us the wonders of animation and storyboards.

WOW! Can I say I was really impressed with the concentration and effort that all of the young people put into it! Well done. The films and photos will be on here soon.

All that remains is to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us here at Inspiring Communities. For information we are back at work on Monday 3rd January 2011.

Broth, wonderful Mum, smarties and prezi

Finished the last session at Pendle Vale and all the lovely prezi's are out and about on the web. Pupils were so quick to get the hang of the program, going above and beyond what was asked of them. Wanted to say a big thankyou to the Mum who came in to help. She was insightful and always looking for ways to help, great at contributing, patient with the pupils, an all round star. Thanks to the pupil who reminded me to give out the prizes for the quickest Prezier, hope you enjoy your fruity smarties.

If anybody wants the links to the pupils prezis let me know and I will post them on here. Also have more pictures which the pupils drew, currently on a disc, If its useful I'll add them to the picture blogs already created on here so that anybody can copy and use them, comment if you want them on here.

Through this project I've discovered, broth and dumplings, sad cakes (looked like an Eccles cake only sader) some lovely clever people, 7 layers of clothing is not always enough on a drafty Blackburn station and when technology goes to plan it can add a lot to learning and life.
Kind Regards and Happy Christmas,
Beth

Prezi.com session at Pendle Vale College are well underway and pupils have been creating their road maps with Beth Barlow. You will have seen an example on the blog of what they have been creating. The pupils have created their own images to represent their goals and ambitions. The Guidance teacher, Ms Riazat have been really supportive of the workshops and is now helping us to create a teachers resource pack which can be left with the school and also sent out to other school for pupils to creatively think and plan their futures. We are developing a DVD resource with the four stories created through the live forum theatre which will have supporting activities for teachers and pupils to have fun with. This pack will be designed to make sure the work contributes to schools assessments and aim to make a lesson good to outstanding in OFSTED's eyes. Check out some of the photos and short film of the sessions with Beth.

Visit to Nelson Town Hall - 24/11/2010

A small group of Inspiring Communities young people joined a group of Connecting Communities Young People on a trip behind the scenes of Nelson Town Hall.
They took a look inside the Council Chamber.
They also listened to talks from Paul Hussey - Chief Executive's Policy Unit Manager, and Sara Mumby - Brierfield Neighbourhood Manager, Connecting Communities.
Claire, Jen, and Warren from Inspiring Communities also introduced the I.C. programme to the group.
The group listened to Role Models Carley and Rachel. Some of the feedback left:

"Cally inspired me to just enjoy your work", Ashley, Young Person.
"Rachel was very inspiring and interesting. I understand that she was a bit bad in her past, but has got her head together" - Chantelle, Young Person.

Prezi pics

The pupils at Colne Primet and Pendle Vale have created a series of pictures to be used in their prezi's ( you can see all these in the next few blogs and the groups will be able to access their images from this blog page). A prezi is created in a computer programme and allows you to put on lots of information and keep adding to it. Over the next few weeks the groups will be going on to tidy up their images a bit and add them to their very own prezi's the theme of which is Road Maps to Success.
